Toddler Portraits

I love taking portraits of children. I have a client that has come to me for every milestone (3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year birthday cake smash, 18 months, 2 years, and now 3). His 3rd birthday theme was John Deere Tractors so we decided there is no better place to photograph this theme, than on a ranch.
Dead Grass Looked like Hay
We photographed these photos at Hidden Vista Ranch in Thorndale, TX, which is only 30 minutes from Georgetown. It's a working ranch that has a Wedding and Event Venue that is currently under construction. The dead grass (as a result of the brutal hot and dry summer) was a bonus because it looked like wheat and made his tractor stand out.
Playing makes for Natural Photos
The parents brought brown rice with them in a metal tub and we had fun photographing photos of him playing. At first he wasn't sure about the rice but once he discovered how to play with the rice and throw it, it was fun. We got some great photos of rice throwing and it helped him to get more comfortable with me. The secret for rice throwing is to set your shuttle speed fast to capture it. My camera was set on 1/500.
Texas Flag & John Deere
The two go hand and hand
There's nothing better than John Deere and the Texas State Flag. We pulled his tractor in front of the ranch fencing so that we could have the Texas Flag in the background. He was starting to warm up to me as you can see by his smile. He began to have fun. I just love this smile!
All Boy
No matter what the age, boys love rocks, trees, grass, water, and FENCES. Just ask a toddler to climb the fence and he will be all smiles for a quick photo.
The Real John Deere Tractor with his Tractor
Now that he has been playing and having some fun, we were able to put his tractor in front of the real #JohnDeere Tractor at #HiddenVistaRanch .
After we got a few photos, he was allowed to climb up into the tractor and pretent to drive it.
Red Pick Up Truck with Texas Flag
Even though the theme was John Deere for his 3rd birthday, we got him to climb inside an old vintage Red Pick Up truck for a quick photo. It started to rain, but we quickly snapped a few photos of him inside the truck. The truck was positioned perfectly with the Texas Flag in the background to create amazing pictures and memories for this family.
